Monday vehicle crash on Highway 126 temporarily closes road

On Monday morning, around 11:30 a.m., the Crook County Sheriff's Office, Oregon State Police, Oregon Department of Transportation, and Redmond Fire and Rescue all responded to an injury motor vehicle accident on Highway 126 near milepost six.
   According to reports, a 2001 Buick crashed alongside the highway and that the female driver was still in the vehicle. Jill Annette Du Pont age 71, of Prineville was travelling westbound on Highway 126, when she experienced a medical condition and lost control of her vehicle. She left the highway off the north side of the road hitting a tree and several boulders before coming to rest.
   Redmond Fire and Rescue had to do a minor extrication to get Du Pont out of the vehicle before she was transported to St. Charles Redmond by ambulance. Du Pont had non-life threatening injuries. Both lanes of Highway 126 were closed for a short period of time for extrication. The cause of the accident appears to be from a medical condition and no citations were issued.
