Kent Robert Smith

Kent Robert Smith, 68 of Prineville, passed away on Aug. 24, 2012. In accordance with his wishes, no service will be held.
   Kent was born on Feb. 3, 1944 in Minneapolis, Minn. to Robert and Lucille (Shuda) Smith. He attended high school in Ukiah, Calif., as well as Central Oregon Community College in Bend.
   He then worked for Crown Pacific, Ochoco, Roseburg and LP Lumber companies until his retirement.
   Kent married Lillian Butler on Sept. 17, 1985 in Roseburg, Ore.
   Kent enjoyed going to yard sales, boating, fishing, yard work, gardening and watching the 49ers play football on TV.
   Kent is survived by his wife, Lillian Smith of Prineville; daughter, Margie (Mike) Youngblood of Clear Lake, Calif.; son, Raymond (Claire) Smith of Coburg, Ore.; stepsons, Patrick Van Heck of Myrtle Creek, Ore., Clarence Van Heck — also of Myrtle Creek, Ore., Roy Van Heck of Prineville; step- daughters, Tina Van Heck of Phoenix, Ariz., Holly Van Heck of Vancouver, Wash.; brothers, Jim (Twila) Smith of Idaho, Scott Smith of Ukiah, Calif., Lee Smith of Ukiah, Kevin(Kathy) Smith of Ukiah; as well as numerous grandchildren and great- grandchildren.
   He was preceded in death by his parents.
   Whispering Pines Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.
