Loggers fall to Mustangs

Mitchell falls in five sets to Jordan Valley in league opener
Saturday, the Mitchell Loggers suffered a heartbreaking loss to the Jordan Valley Mustangs in High Desert League volleyball action.
The Loggers nearly pulled off the upset, forcing the match into a fifth set before finally falling to the Mustangs.
“Our girls did a good job,” said Mitchell head coach Sandy Goodson. “Last year, we lost to Jordan Valley in three sets.”
The Loggers took set one 25-23, lost set two 23-25, fell 16-25 in set three, then rallied to win set four 25-23.
However, Mitchell was never in the fifth and deciding set as Jordan Valley pulled out the 15-4 victory.
“When the girls are on their serves, we do well,” Goodson said. “But when one can’t serve, it seems like the whole team falls apart. If we can work on being consistent with our serving, we should be in the top three to four in our league.”
With the win, Jordan Valley moved to 2-4 on the season while the Loggers fell to 1-1.
Mitchell hosted Central Christian on Thursday. The Loggers are back in action on Saturday when they go on the road to take on both Huntington and Harper in important High Desert League matchups.
