Gary Owen Sr.
Funeral services will be held at the Eastside Church on Monday, Jan. 28, at 1 p.m. Pastor Brian Carmack will officiate.
A visitation will be held Sunday, Jan. 27, from 2 to 5 p.m. at Whispering Pines Funeral Home.
Gary was born on Aug. 20, 1950 in Post, Texas, to Gene and Beverly (Votaw) Owen. Gary attended and graduated from Los Molinos High School in 1968.
He married Kerma (Bell) in Los Molinos, Calif., on Jan. 11, 1969.
After that, he attended Shasta Community College in Redding, Calif., for two years. He then worked for Crestline Inc., in Corning, Calif., for 20 years as a plant manager.
He later moved to Spokane, Wash., where he continued to be a plant manager for Crestline Inc. for 10 years. Gary then moved back to Corning for six years. In 1993, he moved to Prineville, Ore., where he was a plant manager for Clear Pine Lumber.
In 1998, he went to work for Safeway as a dairy manager.
Gary loved dancing, yard work, feeding the birds, fishing, and spending time with his family and grandchildren.
He is survived by: his wife, Kerma Owen of Prineville; daughter Jennie and husband Toby Viramonte of Citrus Heights, Calif.; son Gary and Amy Owen of Oregon City, Ore.; brothers Harry Owen of Forrest Ranch, Calif., and Wayne Owen of Chico, Calif.; Terry Owen of Los Molinos; Russell Owen of Modesto, Calif.
Other survivors include: sisters Paula Groves of Fresno, Calif., Lona Fisher of Central Point, Ore., Brenda Youngman of Stretham, England, Carol Karber of St. Mary's, Idaho, Tammatha Owen of Tampa, Florida, Dawn Owen of Chico; and two grandchildren, Brayde and Zoe Owen.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents.
