The Cowgirls' lone win against the defending Intermountain Conference champions was Maggie Trinchieri and Cassie Low's No. 2 doubles win. Trinchieri and Lowe won 6-3, 6-3, over Elisa Smith and Ashley Flowers. No. 1 doubles team Krissi Kemper and Katie Leavitt dropped a tough match, falling 6-7 (7-1), 6-4, 6-2 to Eldridge and Wicks of Hermiston, while No. 2 singles Erin Crofcheck lost 6-3, 7-6 (9-7) to Allison Hammon.
"We had some close matches," said Head Coach Lloyd Rodgers. "Crofcheck played great. She played her heart out against a much more experienced player. And Tessa Romine played well too, against the number one girl in our district."
The Cowgirls have a long week ahead, playing at Klamath Falls on Wednesday, Madras on Thursday and Treasure Valley Community College on Friday and Saturday.
"Slow, but sure, we are getting there," said Rodgers. "Practice time is tough with only four courts, but we are progressing, and we are having fun."
