Cowgirls defeat Klamath Union, Madras

Madras win counts toward league championship
The Crook County High School girls tennis team is on a bit of a roll of late.
The team defeated Klamath Union High School on Wednesday 7-1, then came back on Thursday and defeated Madras 6-2 in a league match.
"All of our doubles played well," said Head Coach Lloyd Rodgers. "Our singles also played well and we picked up one more win than we did the first time we played them."
Individual results from the Klamath Union match were not available at press time, but the Cowgirls dominated the match. Rodgers noted that both matches could easily have been sweeps.
The first three Crook County doubles teams all recorded wins in the Madras match and according to Rodgers the fourth team could also have easily won.
"They are new players and they played a tiebreaker when they should have played a full third set," said Rodgers. "Madras didn't want to replay it when they knew we had already won the match."
Number one and two singles, Tessa Romine and Erin Crofcheck, each won their matches with Crofcheck taking a three-set match when her opponent was forced to default at the end.
Number four singles Natalie Rich won her match defeating Rachelle Herkshan 6-2, 6-3.
"Rich lost to the same girl last time," said Rodgers. "Which tells me the girls are improving."
The team continues their busy week leaving early Friday morning for a two-day tournament at Treasure Valley Community College.
