Scott Elliott, Michelly and Kellie Foley each finish in second place

by: LON AUSTIN/CENTRAL OREGONIAN - Mark Flegel runs the 110 hurdles on Wednesday against Mt. View. Flegel won the race, and also won the 110 hurdles at the Crater Invitational on Saturday in a time of 15.34.

The Crook County High school track team took only a handful of individuals to the 28-team Crater Invitational on Saturday, but those individuals did quite well.
Mark Flegel won the 110-hurdles in a personal record time of 15.34 for the only Cowboy win on the day.
"Flegel just went unconscious in the hurdles," said Head Coach Ernie Brooks. "But probably the biggest thing was Michelly Foley ran a 10:15 3,000 meter and broke the school record of 10:37 and setting a personal record by 49 seconds."
Foley finished in second place to Taylor Wallace of Henley, the 4A state cross country champion.
Kellie Foley also had a second place for Crook County, running 4:54.70 in the 1,500 meter race. Also finishing in second for the Cowboys was Scott Elliot clearing 14-00 in the pole vault. Other Crook County placers were Cater Lopez finishing in third place in the high jump with a leap of 5-00, Flegel, third in the 300- hurdles, and Mark Blomquist fourth in the discus. Michael Gruber also had a good day, finishing fifth in the 100 and sixth in the 200. David Parks finished seventh in the 100 and the 40- meter relay team came away with a third place on the day.
"It was a great meet," said Brooks. "Now we are just waiting for some good weather."
