Cowboys drop two matches

Cowboys fall 7-1 to Bend, 6-2 to The Dalles/Wahtonka

The Crook County High School boys tennis team dropped a pair of matches this week to Bend and The Dalles/Wahtonka.
On Tuesday, the Cowboys lost to Bend 7-1 with No. 1 doubles team Joe Oshlschlaeger and Paul Robideau getting Crook County's lone victory.
"Oshlschlaeger and Robideau played really well together and just took it to the guys," said Coach Dan Brown.
The No. 3 doubles team of Luke Garner and Jeff Robideau, also played well losing a close three set match 7-5, 5-7, 6-0.
"They ended up losing, but they are definitely getting down what they need to do to play at that level," Brown said.
On Thursday, the Cowboys fell to The Dalles/Wahtonka 6-2 in a match that was much closer than the final score.
"We were actually very competitive," said Brown. "We were missing some personnel and had to forfeit two matches right off the bat. Even at that we had a good opportunity to split the team match."
The Cowboys picked up wins from both their No. 1 and 2 doubles teams as they each won three set matches. Oshlschlaeger and Paul Robideau won their match 6-1, 4-6, 6-2 while Garner and Jeff Robideau won 3-6, 6-3, 6-2.
"Oshlschlaeger and Rodideau played well at the start and then they kind of got tentative," Brown said. "The third set they played aggressive again and they won the match because of it."
Matt Harper also played three sets before dropping his No. 4 singles match 6-4, 6-0, 6-4.
"Harper was very disappointed because he really thought that this was going to be his breakthrough win and he didn't quite get the job done," Brown said.
The Cowboys play again today at Mountain View, then travel to Bend for districts on Monday and Tuesday.
