He was born on July 20, 1925, in Caney, Kansas, to James and Hazel B. Cardin.
They moved to Prineville, Ore., when he was a teenager. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Mr. Cardin married Joyce Buker on Dec. 27, 1953, and they lived in Waldport until 1978 and then they moved to South Beach, Ore. They had been married for 54 years.
He loved to trap shoot, watch baseball games, have a beer with his friends, and go to the valley each summer for fresh strawberries, peaches and vine-ripened tomatoes. He will be missed by his family and many friends.
Survivors include: his wife, Joyce Cardin, of South Beach; son Terry Cardin of Albany; daughter Marilyn (Cardin) Schmidt of Albany; sister Shirley Fullerton of Escondido, Calif.; two brothers Donald Cardin of Prineville and Dean Cardin of New Plymouth, Idaho; five grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
