ie "Kate" Capehart, a Prineville resident, passed away on Saturday, Feb. 24, 2007 at Pioneer Memorial Hospital. She was 74 years old.
At her request no public services will be held.
Marie was born in Glen Elder County, Kansas on September 2, 1932 to William and Louise (Beukenhorst) Shoemaker.
She moved to Oregon in 1940. She attended and graduated from Crook County High School.
She married Gerald Capehart in Madras, Ore., on April 26, 1950.
Marie worked at J.C. Penney as a bookkeeper for many years in Prineville. She was a member of the Double Day Book Club.
Marie was an avid reader. She has an extensive collection of books and was always willing to share them to make sure everyone around her loved to read.
She loved to read about American history and Native American culture.
Marie was an expert seamstress, who enjoyed making handmade quilts.
Marie is survived by: her daughter, Sharon Edgerly of Bend; brother Sam Shoemaker; sisters Erba Gillen and Louise Johnson all of Prineville, and granddaughter, Dena Edgerly of Bend, Ore.
She was preceded in death by her husband Gerald on March 12, 1994, in Prineville.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Crook County Public Library.
