Golfers turn out and brave the weather to support the Crook County golf teams on Saturday
The Crook County golf program held their lone fund-raiser of the year at Meadow Lakes Golf Course on Saturday, and according to Cowboys Coach Chuck Wilcox, it was one of their best year's yet.
Some 38 teams totaling 152 players braved the light rain to take part in the 11th Annual Crook County High School Benefit Golf Tournament.
"It was very successful and we appreciate the dedication everyone has to the boys and girls (golf) teams," Wilcox said. "The people were very supportive and Meadow Lakes did a very good job."
In a four-person scramble, the team of Brad Brown, Patrick Andrade, Phillip Miller and Jim Brown came in first in the gross category with a 59. The foursome of Craig Gallinat, Lee Budke, Nick Colovos and Jim Hargrave were awarded first in the net category with a 47.

Third gross - 60
Tom MacDonald, Grant Patterson, Bob Serano and Bruce Neelands.
Fourth gross - 61
Zach Lampert, Pat O'Gorman, Art Weston and Mark Payne.
Second net - 48
Sam Childress, Mike Lindsey, Marc Mendoza and Jason Kalberg.
Third net - 48
Brandon Takemoto, Eleanor Aquino, Derik White and Lafi Saliga.
Fourth net - 48
Scott McKague, Cameron Craig, Jeff Frickey and Scott Herman.
Men's closest to the pin prize came on hole no. 4 by Nick Colovos, while the women's came from Valda York on 17. The longest drive came from Zach Lampert on 12, while the women's was hit by Mary Jo Grimes on 12. Brandon Reed made the longest putt on 9, and Stephanie Whitcomb made the longest putt for the women on 18.
