othy Deen Gurney passed away Dec. 26, 2007 in Prineville, Ore.
She was 79 years old.
Memorial services will be held Monday, Dec. 31, 2007 at the Prineville Church of the Nazarene at 10 a.m.
Dorothy was born Feb. 3, 1928 in Fulton, Kansas to Thomas A. and Lucy J. (Wyland) Kramer. Dorothy worked in the restaurant and catering business most of her life.
On June 21, 1958 in Eugene, Ore., Dorothy married George Gurney. She and her husband owned D&G Caf‚ for two years.
She was then a bookkeeper, a farmer, and raised five girls and also helped raise some of her grandchildren. She was the matriarch and peacemaker of the family.
Dorothy was a great listener when it came to her family and friends.
She loved teaching others to cook; bowling; her sewing club; reading; singing; swimming; attending church; and spending time with her family and grandchildren.
Survivors include: her daughters Ellen Louise Donohue of Elko, Nev., Georgia and her husband Lewie Chandler of Prineville, Ore., Geraldine Whitton of Junction City, Ore., Mary and husband Gary DeMaris of Junction City, Ore.; one sister Helen Johnson of Kansas; and son-in-law Max Hernandez of Prineville, Ore.
Other survivors include: 14 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, her husband George, one daughter, one granddaughter, and one great-granddaughter.
