Firewood cutting closed for the season

If you haven't gone up into the Ochoco Mountains for your winter firewood, it's too late...
It is official, all personal use firewood cutting areas on the Ochoco and Deschutes National Forests and on land managed by the Prineville District of the Bureau of Land Management have been closed for the season.
Firewood cutting on central Oregon public lands will reopen in the spring. Areas on the Deschutes National Forest and the Prineville BLM plan are scheduled to open on approximately April 1, while areas on the Ochoco National Forest are set to reopen about May 1.
Reopening dates may be delayed due to snow conditions or to protect resources if roads remain wet or muddy.
