Marina Ynez Green
She was born Dec. 14, 1917 to Manuel and Carmelita (Hames) Rios in Santa Barbara, California where she received her education and graduated from high school. After graduation she worked as a bookkeeper in Santa Barbara for a number of years.
She married John Green in Santa Barbara in 1938 and they moved to Los Angeles in 1966 where she continued working as a bookkeeper until 1973 when she moved back to Santa Barbara. She moved to John Day in 1975 where she lived until 1990 when she moved to Prineville.
Her hobbies included reading, traveling, gardening, cooking, going to the beach and spending time with her family. Mrs. Green belonged to a Spanish homestead family that was a part of the Rios Caledonia Adobe Museum in Casa Robles, California.
Survivors include her daughters, Patrice and Mike Merwin of Prineville and Denise Catherina of Las Vegas, Nev.; brother, Anthony Rios of Santa Barbara, Calif.; granddaughters Melissa Avery, Jessica Catherina, Nicole Catherina, Tessa Page and Rose Merwin; and one great-granddaughter Morgan Page. She was preceded in death by her husband and one brother.
Visitation was scheduled for today at Whispering Pines Funeral Home from 1 to 5 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2 p.m. on Fri., Feb. 9 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 150 E. First St., in Prineville.
