Peggy Joyce Carter
She was born May 19, 1932 in Hutchinson, Kansas, to John E. and Myrtle Elizabeth (Brill) Westfall, one of ten children. She graduated from high school in Bend in 1950 and started working for the First National Bank as a teller. She continued to work as a teller and a bookkeeper until 1977 when she retired in Portland and moved back to Bend. She married Leo Carter in 1981 in Vancouver, Wash. She moved to Prineville from Redmond in 1993.
Her hobbies included playing bingo, reading, roller skating with her children when they were young, and watching movies.
Survivors include her husband, Leo Carter of Prineville; brothers, John E. Westfall of Vancouver, Wash., Marvin E. Westfall of Bend, Frank D. Westfall of Canby, and Wayne Westfall of Portland; sisters, Sue Ann Boyd of Vancouver, Wash., and Barbara Hunter of Federal Way, Wash.; sons, Robert Anderson of Portland and Ronald Anderson of Springfield, stepchildren Fr. Daniel Carter of San Francisco, Calif., and Linda Taffie of McArthur Calif.; five grandchildren; three step-grandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren;
A funeral Mass will be held at Deschutes Funeral Home in Bend on Feb. 14 at 1 p.m. a viewing will held at 10 a.m. at Deschutes Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to Central Oregon Hospice of Bend.
