. "Bud" Redfern of Prineville died Wed., Feb. 7, 2001. He was 74 years old.
He was born Jan. 28, 1927 to John and Lottie (McGarrah) Redfern in Benton County, Ark. He attended school in Oklahoma and graduated from Gresham High School.
After graduating he worked for Brightwood Logging in Brightwood until he purchased his first logging truck. He was an independent trucker for the rest of his life. He moved to Prineville from Brightwood in 1966.
He married Nancy in Powell Butte in 1988 and the couple continued to live in Prineville until the time of his death.
His hobbies included hunting, fishing, working on his motorhome, traveling and spending time with family. He was a member of the Elks Lodge 1814.
Survivors include his wife Nancy Redfern of Prineville, step-daughters, Darlene Counts of Bend and Paula Hobeck of Arlington, Wash.; brother, Leon Redfern of Fairview; sisters, Freda Moon of Turlock, Calif., Mackie Nushaum of Bullhead City, Ariz., Gwen Heinrich of Portland, and Mary Dominique of Cathlamet, Wash., and granddaughter Brittany Counts.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister and former wife, June.
Services were held Feb. 10. Memorial donations in Mr. Redfern's name may be directed to St. Joseph's Catholic Church.
Whispering Pines Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
