Arts in Prineville topic of morning talk

Cate O’Hagan, Executive Director of the Central Oregon Arts Council will speak at the Public Affairs Forum on Tuesday, Feb. 20. O’Hagan’s topic will be on “The Central Oregon Arts Council: Opportunities for Prineville.” Diane Bohle, Executive Director of the Chamber of Commerce, encourages the public to attend this free Chamber-sponsored talk. “The arts are an important topic for our community to consider,” Bohle explained. “Prineville and Crook County have stories similar to other Oregon communities recovering from economic downturns related to historic natural resource and agricultural economies. There are success stories. Many of these communities have effectively used public art as a vehicle for downtown development, diversification and to stimulate cultural tourism.” A brainstorming session about promoting the arts in Prineville will be held following O’Hagan’s presentation. This session will be held in the meeting room at the OSU/Crook County Extension office, 498 SE Lynn Blvd. The Public Affairs Forum meets each Tuesday morning at 7 a.m. at the Senior Center and all interested members of the public are urged to attend. Contact the Chamber at 447-6304 for more information.
