ert "Bud" Franklin Capehart of Prineville died Fri., March 9, 2001 of natural causes at his home. He was 86 years old.
   He was born Dec. 18, 1914 in Cove, Arkansas to Robert Lee and Eunice (James) Capehart. He grew up and attended school in Cove and was very active in sports. Following graduation he furthered his education with courses in journalism and bookkeeping. He worked with his father who was a building contractor for a while prior to going into the Civil Conservation Corps in the 1930's where he was a Supply Sergeant for about 4 years.
   While he was in the CCC's he enjoyed competing in baseball, basketball and boxing which earned him several awards.
   He married Sylvia Sims of Cove in Gilliam Arkansas in 1938. They moved to Forrester, Ark. where he was employed by Cado River Lumber Company as an electrical engineer until moving to Prineville in 1945.
   He worked for Ochoco Lumber Company as a boiler operator and certified lumber grader until he retired in 1976.
   He enjoyed spending time with family, particularly his grandchildren.
   His hobbies included fishing, hunting, gardening, traveling the U.S. and Canada and reading.
   He was also a driver for the senior bus and enjoyed helping other people. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge 76 AF&AM since 1941.
   He is survived by his wife Sylvia Capehart of Prineville; daughter, Marilyn O'Dell of Prineville; son, Charles Capehart and his wife Myrtle of Prineville; sister, Teresa Oglesby of Redding, Calif.; five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, sisters- and brothers-in-law.
   He was preceded in death by his parents, seven siblings and one half-sister.
   Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Foundation or Pioneer Memorial Hospice or to the charity of one's choice.
   At his request, cremation was held at the Prineville Heritage Crematory under the direction of the Prineville Funeral Home.
   Graveside inurnment services will be held Fri., March 16 at 11 p.m. at the Juniper Haven Cemetery.
   Pastor Ron Halvorson of the Prineville Church of the Nazarene will officiate.
