John Edward Gilbert

John Edward Gilbert of Prineville died Sat., March 3, 2001. He was 51 years old.
   He was born Oct. 10, 1949 to Les and Marie (Friberg) Gilbert in Aberdeen, Washington. He attended school in Aberdeen and graduated in Roseburg. He was a member of the FFA in high school and showed cattle and attended fairs. He then worked as a logger.
   He married Carolyn in Rochester in 1991 and moved to Prineville in 1996 where he operated a logging and excavation business called Rimrock Land and Timber. He was working for Owens Freight at the time of his death.
   His hobbies included collecting Mickey Mouse memorabilia, reading, going for rides in the woods, hiking and being with his family.
   Survivors include his wife Carolyn Gilbert of Redmond; sons, John Henry Gilbert of Darrington, Wash., Dennis Courtright of Salem and Scott Courtright of Centralia, Wash.; daughters, Jackie Frazen of Renton, Wash., April David of Redmond, Lynnette Cartwright of Jacksonville, North Carolina; brother, Les Gilbert of Monroe, Wash.; sister, Alice Corbus of Hoquiam, Wash.; mother, Marie Gilbert of Hoquiam, Wash., and 13 grandchildren.
   He was preceded in death by his father.
   Private cremation will be held. Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. on Fri., March 9 at the Church of the Nazarene, 780 E. First St. Pastor Ron Halverson will officiate.
   Memorials may be made to Assembly of God Food Bank in Prineville.
   Whispering Pines Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
