Gwen J. Strickland
She was born Feb. 7, 1925 in Reedley, California. She moved to Oregon in 1947 and married Benjamin Strickland in 1950 in Portland where she worked as a teacher for the Portland School District. She owned a clock shop, grocery store and concession in Prineville before retiring in 1986. She moved to Woodburn in 1998 to be near family.
She was a member of the Christian Church and she enjoyed making dolls.
Survivors include her daughters Daphne Bilicich of Yuba, Calif., and Marann Berry of Salem; brothers, Edward Byfield of Paradise, Calif., and Dwight Byfield of Fresno, Calif.; sister, Lee Jones of Portland; and four grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband and one son.
Memorial donations may be made in her name to Health Dynamics Hospice of Newberg or the Hubbard Christian Center in Hubbard.
Memorial services were scheduled for today at 2 p.m. at Hubbard Christian Center in Hubbard.
Cornwell Colonial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
