Woodrow Medford, a Prineville resident passed away on Tuesday, May 15, 2001 at his home. He was 87 years old.
He was born on October 16, 1913 in Broken Bow, Okla., the son of Lewis Delby and Lucy (Wagner) Medford. He grew up in Oklahoma and Arkansas. His mother passed away when he was three years old and he was raised by his older sisters. As a teenager he worked as a timber faller.
He married Josie Blalack in Bethel, Okla. on Feb. 18, 1934. The couple moved to Prineville in 1943 and he went to work for Kelly Sawmill as a timber faller, working for several lumber companies through the years such as Tum-A-Lum Lumber and Copeland Lumber, retiring from Coin Lumber Company in 1968.
He is survived by his wife Josie Medford of Prineville, sons; Calvin Medford of Emmett, Idaho, Don Medford of Clatskanie, Ore., Bille Medford of Portland, Ore., and Jerry Medford of New Plymouth, Idaho, and daughters; Velmer Henderson and Joyce Garner both of Prineville; 14 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, and three sisters.

Graveside service will be held on Friday, May 18 at 10 a.m. at the Juniper Haven Cemetery.
Pastor Ron Hemphill will officiate. Viewing will be held on Thursday, May 17 from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the Prineville Funeral Home.
