Chuck Henry Vertz

Chuck Henry Vertz, a Monument resident, passed away on Saturday, May 12, 2001 at Pioneer Memorial Hospital in Prineville. He was 73 years old.
   He was born on December 11, 1926 in Little Bear, Wyoming the son of Samuel and Ava (Tucker). He was raised in Canby, later moving to Brooks, Oregon. He married Dolores I. Ramey in Feb. 1948, in Vancouver, Wash., after which the couple moved to Salem, Oregon where he owned and operated two Richfield Service Stations.
   The couple later moved to Terrebonne, Oregon, where Vertz worked as a mechanic for Central Oregon Irrigation District until he retired in 1989 at which time he and his wife moved to Monument, Oregon.
   He is survived by his wife Dolores Vertz of Salem; son Dennis Vertz of Stayton, Ore.; daughter Sharon Combs of Vale, Ore.; sister Hazel Gilbert of Portland, Ore., Marian Davidson of San Pablo, Calif., and Dorothy Skyoon of Whale Cove, Ore.; two grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, one grandson and one great grandson.
   It has been suggested that those wishing to make a memorial contribution in Mr. Vertz' memory can direct them to the American Cancer Society.
   Memorial services will be held on Saturday, May 26, at 2 p.m. in the "Heritage Chapel" of the Prineville Funeral Home. Pastor Willard Fenderson will officiate.
