mas F. Kiernan of Prineville died Wed., April 11 at the Ochoco Care Center. He was 80 years old.
He was born May 4, 1920 to Thomas Francis and Theresa (McCormac) Kierman in White Plaines, New York where he was raised. He attended Bucknell University in Pennsylvania where he played football and received a business degree.
He enlisted in the US Navy and was a flight instructor at Pensacola Florida Naval Base during WWII. He married Carolyn Stroop in 1944 in Pensacola and she preceded him in death in 1981. He married Bonnie Smith in Rapid City, South Dakota in 1983. He moved from Boise, Idaho to Prineville in 1992.
He was a member of the Catholic Church. He enjoyed oil painting, raising German Shepherds, watching football and listening to Big Band music.
He is survived by his wife Bonnie Smith of Prineville; daughters, Valerie Gervais of Fox River Grove, Ill., Christine Goddard of Union City, Calif., and Virginia "Ginger" Kiernan of Union City, Calif.; stepdaughters, Donna Renner and Jody Todd of Cottonwood, Ida.; stepson Mark Shepard of Prineville; sister, Agnes Kiernan of New York; three grandchildren; five step-grandchildren and eight step-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, parents, two siblings and one great-grandson.
Memorial services were held April 14 with cremation taking place at the Prineville Heritage Crematory under the direction of the Prineville Funeral Home.
