es "Jim" Andrew Graves, a resident of Hood River, died Mon., April 23, 2001 at Providence Hood River Memorial Hospital. He was 84 years old.
He was born March 24, 1917 in Clarksville, Arkansas to Daniel and Mary Ann (Darnell) Graves. He grew up and attended schools in Clarksville and Prineville.
He was a student body president at Crook County High School. He married Gloria Bolinger in California in 1942.
He was employed with Lockheed Aircraft during WWII and continued to reside in southern California until 1952 when he moved to Hood River. He owned and operated Bolinger Building Supply in Hood River until retiring in 1982.
He was a member of the Valley Christian Church and a 39-year member of the Hood River Elks 1507.
He enjoyed working as a volunteer for F.I.S.H., woodworking, fishing and doing handyman jobs.
He is survived by his wife Gloria of Hood River; brothers, Ernest Graves of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Robert Graves of Waller, Texas and John Graves of Sun Valley, California; sister, Minnie Harrison of Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Memorial services are scheduled for April 30 at 2 p.m. at the Valley Christian Church.
Memorial contributions may be made in Mr. Graves' name to the Valley Christian Church or the Hospice of the Gorge in care of Anderson Funeral Home, 1401 Belmont, Hood River who is in charge of arrangements.
