Violet Dean Hayes
She was born Oct. 24, 1932 to Walter and Leila (Blankenship) McLean in Anson, Texas.
She attended school in Kiowa, Oklahoma and Loveland, Texas. After school she worked at a drug store in Oklahoma for a few years.
She then moved to Prineville where she married Buddy Hayes in 1951. In Prineville she worked seasonally, and for Burnett Box Factory, and Coin Millwork for 25 years.
Her hobbies included reading (especially her Bible), canning fruit and vegetables, crocheting, camping, fishing, traveling, going to the casino, spending time with her dogs and being with her family.
She was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband Buddy Hayes of Prineville; mother, Leila McLean; daughters, Jackie Joanne Gregor of Madras, Toni Marlynne Hayes of Madras, Rebecca Dean Hanes of Prineville; sisters, Earlene Baily of Prineville and Doris Harrison of Kelso, Wash.; grandchildren Gerri Lynne Stagget, Shelly Robison, Buddy Hanes, Justin Gregor, Joseph Gregor, Jacob Gregor, Angie Hanes and Wade Hanes; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father.
Memorials may be made to the Christmas Fund in care of Community First Bank or to the Special Olympics.
Visitation will be held today until 8 p.m. at Whispering Pines Funeral Home Chapel in Prineville. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. on Wed., May 2 at Juniper Haven Cemetery.
