Florence Ethel (Flossy) Hamman, 81, died May 10, 2001, in Vancouver, Wash.
Mrs. Hamman was born Sept. 16, 1919, in Wallowa, Ore., to S. and Cynthia Thompson. She grew up in LaGrande, Ore.
In Sept. 1936, she married Oliver A. Hamman. She was a homemaker and a 4-H leader. In 1954 the family moved to Prineville and lived on South Main Street. Flossy Hamman worked at the South Side Grocery Store when the Stewarts owned it. She also worked at the B & B Grocery Store for a short time. Mrs. Hamman and her family lived in Prineville for 14 years.
Oliver and Flossy moved back to LaGrande in the early 1970s for a few years and operated the Greenwell Motel. They later moved to Wenatchee, Wash., where Oliver Hamman passed away in June 1985. Mrs. Hamman moved to Camas, Wash., in 1992 to be near family.
Survivors include her children, Floy Weger and Terry Hamman of Prineville, Ore.; Verla Johnson of Camas, Wash.; and Larry Hamman of Renton, Wash.; 14 grandchildren; 34 great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Hamman was preceded in death by her parents, S. and Cynthia Thompson; a sister, Flora Price; three brothers, Estes (Slim) Thompson, Albert Thompson, and Robert (Bob) Thompson; and two great grandchildren.
Mrs. Hamman was laid to rest beside her husband on Wednesday, May 16, 2001, at 2 p.m. at the Island City Cemetery near LaGrande, Ore.
