Vera Lyle, a Prineville resident passed away on Wednesday, May 23, 2001 at the Lanrich Foster Care Home in Prineville. She was 90 years old.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, May 24 at 2 p.m. in the "Heritage Chapel" of the Prineville Funeral Home. Pastor Willard Fenderson will be officiating. Interment will follow at the Juniper Haven Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 23 from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the Prineville Funeral Home.
She was born on Dec. 1, 1910 in Summit, Idaho the daughter of William H. and Myrtle Della (George) Derrick. She moved to Fossil, Ore. as a child and graduate from Fossil High School in 1916 after which she attended two years of college at Western Oregon Normal School in 1928 with a degree in Teaching. Mrs. Lyle had taught school in Fossil, Twickinham, and Spray retiring in 1949. She married Kenneth Lyle in 1945 in Fossil, Ore., at which time she became a mother and homemaker. The couple moved to Prineville in 1950 from Spray.
She was a member of the Prineville First Baptist Church and had taught Sunday school, and was involved with the mission program. Her family and children were her life.
She is survived by her sons William "Bill" H. Lyle of Prineville, Lanny G. Lyle of El Dorado Hills, Calif., and Kenneth "Rob" Robert Lyle of Prineville, brother Edwin Earl Derrick of Fossil, Ore., grandchildren Theresa Stephens of Grass Valley, Calif, Bari Nicole Lyle of Prineville, David Lyle of Emmitt, Idaho, Roger Lyle of Prineville and Megan Marie Lyle of Prineville, and seven great grandchildren. Mrs. Lyle was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth Lyle in 1976.
