The Prineville Eagles Auxiliary 2555 held its annual Charity Weekend on Feb. 23, 24 and 25, this year. Recently they gave the funds raised away.
Each year, money raised is donated to a total of 15 national charities that the Eagles support. Each year, a small amount is given to the majority of causes, while two local agencies receive major donations. This year the national organizations included a variety of causes; the Heart Fund, cancer research, the Diabetes-Kidney Fund, Muscular Dystrophy, the Golden Eagle Fund, the Alzheimer's Fund and the Jimmy Durante Children's Fund.
Locally, the members chose to help Ochoco Breakaway and the Prineville Fire Department. In accepting the generous donation, Carol Parker of the Ochoco Breakaway said the funds would help purchase program supplies and lunches. The check given to the fire department was earmarked for medical supplies for the ambulances and training videos for the EMS staff.
