CCHS goes outside of Oregon to hire new wrestling coach

The Crook County School District announced Thursday afternoon that Rob Porter will become the new head wrestling coach at Crook County High School. Mr Porter will teach math and computer classes at CCHS.
   Mr. Porter has been a teacher and coach at Mahomet-Seymour High School in Mahomet, Ill. for the past eleven years. His teams have compiled a dual meet record of 254-44-3 and have finished third in the Illinois state tournament four times. Mr. Porter has been nominated for Illinois state coach of the year honors four times.
   "Mr. Porter brings a proven record of success in both teaching and coaching to Crook County. We are very fortunate to have someone of his experience and skills coming to our district. We believe that under Rob's leadership, the Crook County wrestling program will achieve new standards in excellense in terms of competition and sportsmanship."
   Mr. Porter replaces former Cowboy head coach Pete Lucas, who resigned in March. Assistant coaches Rob Bonner and Jason Ebbs will continue their roles under Mr. Porter.
