>Just about the biggest, most exciting weekend of the year for Prineville is about to start, and to make sure none of the excitement is missed, here is a schedule of the events coming up
It all starts with the traditional cattle drive through downtown Prineville to the Crook County Fairgrounds. This heralds the beginning of the 2001 Crooked River Roundup. However, once at the fairgrounds visitors will find a different kind of excitement: the Rockhound Pow Wow Gem and Mineral Expo. This is the weekend that will be packed with something for everyone. For a story on this year’s Crooked River Roundup Grand Marshal Smokey Flegel and his long history with local rodeos, see page 4. For more on the Rockhound Pow Wow, see page 1B. When the annual cattle drive through downtown Prineville reaches the Crook County Fairgrounds, the 56th Annual Crooked River Roundup will have officially begun. The annual rodeo isn’t the only activity going on this weekend, though.
