Bill Junior McPhetridge

Bill Junior McPhetridge died Wed., July 4, 2001 at St. Charles Medical Center in Bend. He was 76 years old.
   He was born Dec. 22, 1924 in Weiser, Idaho to Bill (Levi) and Thelma McPhetridge.
   The family moved to Prineville in 1925 where he was raised and attended school.
   He married Itha `Ike' Lang in 1952 and they purchased an old school house which had been relocated to the Grimes Flat area. They raised their family on the ranch where Mr. McPhetridge raised cattle, sold hay, and farmed.
   He was an avid horseman who enjoyed raising quarter horses and attending rodeos. He was a longtime supporter of the central Oregon High School Rodeo Club. He also took pleasure in raising Border Collies and never left home without one in the back of his pick-up.
   He was a lifetime member of the BPO Elks 1814 in Prineville where he served in several positions including trustee.
   Mr. McPhetridge's interests included horseback riding, hunting, camping, fishing, boating, collecting antiques, playing cards and visiting with friends.
   Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law Lisa and Robert Phelps of Prineville; step-son John Lang; sister, Dorothy Rooper of the Dalles; four grandchildren, two step-grandchildren one step-great-grandchild; nieces, Candace Stafford and Judy Allen of Prineville and Megan Shannon of Salem; nephews, Jim McPhetridge of Prineville and Scott McPhetridge of Culver and numerous other nieces and nephews.
   He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, one brother and one nephew.
   Memorial contributions may be made in his name to the Central Oregon High School Rodeo Club, in care of Starla Williams 5179 N. Hwy, Terrebonne, 97760.
   Visitation will be held Wed., July 11 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Prineville Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at the Prineville Elk's Lodge at 1 p.m. on Thurs., July 12. Pastor Willard Fenderson will officiate. Interment will follow at Juniper Haven Cemetery.
