mer Prineville resident, Herman `Bud' Iver Helgeson of The Dalles died at his home on Wed., July 4. He was 83 years old.
He was born Oct. 17, 1917 in Taylor, N.D. to Gilbert and Ida (Simons) Helgeson. He served in the CCC's in North Dakota and Montanta.
He married Leona Marie Hausauer in 1942 and they moved to Chaffee, N.D., where they lived until 1957. From there they moved to Idaho followed by Montana. They moved to Prineville from Moro, where they lived for 20 years. They moved to the Dalles to be near family.
Mr. Helgeson worked as a farmer, drove truck, mined in Idaho, logged and worked heavy construction in Montana, worked maintenance and drove school bus at Moro Grade School, and worked for Les Schwab Tires in Prineville.
Survivors include his son Robert Helegeson and his wife Martha of The Dalles; daughters and their husbands, Sharon and Phillip Gilman of The Dalles, and Jane and Martin Ferguson of San Antonia, Tex.; 10 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren; brother George Helgeson of Fargo, N.D.; sister Helen Quisberg of Bismark, N.D. and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial contributions may be made in Mr. Helgeson's name to Mid Columbia Medical Center Health Foundation, 1700 E. 19th St., The Dalles, Oreg. 97058.
Private cremation was held at The Dalles Win-quatt Crematory with interment of ashes at the Dalles IOOF Cemetery. Memorial Services were held at The Dalles on July 7.
