gtime central Oregon resident Don Evans of Athena died Fri., Aug. 24 at St. Anthony's Hospital in Pendleton. He was 71 years old.
He was born Aug. 25, 1929 to Mildred Ammons Evans and Harry D. Evans in Held, Oregon. He married Donna Thorne in Burns in 1949 and together they raised four children in the eastern Oregon area.
Survivors include his wife Donna; sons, Mike of Pilot Rock and Russ of Pendleton; daughters, Debby Bishop of Pilot Rock and Cathy Thompson of Pendleton; brother, Bill; sisters, Norma Aichele, Thelma Vaughn, Velma Howard, Faye Travis; seven grandchildren, Justin Evans, Lynn Litvinenko, Dawn Evans, Emmet Evans, Katie Thompson, Victor Thompson and Amber Evans; three great-grandchildren, Steven, Elizabeth and Melissa Evans.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Paw-Maw Club of Paulina in care of Shirley McCullough, 67435 Mark Road, Prineville.
A graveside service will be held at the Weston cemetery at 10 a.m. on Wed., Aug. 25. A dinner will follow the service at the Evans' home.
