To the editor: You may have heard about the dilemma that I had this last summer when it came time to sell my 4-H steer at the fair. I qualified for the National High School Finals Rodeo in Springfield, Ill. I had to leave the same night as the livestock sale, therefore I would be unable to attend the sale. This in return meant that I would now have to sell my steer private treaty. in my nine years of 4-H, I have never had to do this. Well, to make a long story short, I was able to get him sold and I would like to take this chance to thank the people who purchased him and the people who spent their own time to support me and to help get my steer sold. Buyers: Paulina Rodeo Club Carl and Wanda Schnable Pat and Nada Miller Weaver Cattle Co. Les Schwab Tire Co. GI Ranch Paulina Scholarship Fund Other supporters: Gary and Dana Millin Spencer Brown Brian and Laura Barney Cliff Kiser John Rhoden Pat and Patti Bunch Lorie and Steve Ontko Jeff and Nin McCormack Carl Weaver Rob and Lisa McLean Mike McCabe Dave McMichael I would also like to give a huge thank you to Carl Weaver for all of his help and support with this matter. Carl is always there to lend a hand whenever someone in the Paulina community needs help. He is a great asset to the Upper Country and we are grateful to have him as a friend. I also want to thank the Paulina Rodeo Club for their hard work in letting people know what was going on with the situation. I’m proud to live here and will always remember the backing from our little spot on the map. Thanks again to all who helped me out. Colt Conley Paulina Ed. note: Colt’s steer was purchased as noted in his letter, but in addition. quarters of the animal were used as raffle prizes for the Paulina Scholarship fund. In addition to the money Colt got, his prize steer also added $1,800 to the fund. Is this a great place, or what?
