ty J. Hankins of Powell Butte died Wed., Sept. 12 at St. Charles Medical Center in Bend. She was 60 years old.
She was born July 19, 1941 in Minden, West Virginia to Hoil and Ellie (Herron) Sharp. She graduated from Mitchell High School in 1960 after which she moved to Prineville. She married Joe Hankins in Prineville in 1962.
She worked as a nurse and was licensed in Oregon, Washington and Idaho. She enjoyed gardening, traveling to Hawaii and Alaska, collecting angels, spending time with her pets, bird watching and snowmobiling. She also enjoyed spending time with family.
Survivors include her husband, Joe Hankins of Powell Butte; son, Joe E. Hankins, Jr. of Medford; parents, Hoil and Ellie Sharp of Prineville; brother, Jerry Sharp of Coeur d'Alene, Ida.; sisters, Shirley Harkey of Prineville and Carol Selby of Fairbanks, Alaska; grandchildren Sidney Hankins and Cole Hankins; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two infant sisters.
Memorial donations may be directed in her name to the American Cancer Society.
Funeral services were scheduled for earlier today with interment following at the Powell Butte Cemetery.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Prineville Funeral Home.
