the editor: I don’t know if this letter will help, but I wonder if there’s anything a person can do to stop the burning barrels in the city limits. We moved here from the big city where the air is so much better. Our neighbors have burning barrels about ten feet from our fence. They must burn everything, because it really smells and if we don’t notice, the house fills up with smoke. My husband has a lung problem and that was the main reason we moved here. There is also fire danger as there’s no screen on the top. So we get the black soot as well. There is a law about having a screen over the barrel, but non-one enforces it. What can we do to keep the air clean? Please advise. E. Andersen Prineville
