n Thomas McKee of Prineville died Sat., Sept. 29, 2001. He was 81 years old.
He was born Feb. 11, 1920 in Lincoln, Nebraska, to Ernest and Mattie (Sampson) McKee. He moved to McMinnville in 1937 and joined the US Navy in 1939.
While in the Navy he was an instructor in radio operations and supervised the operations of all types of radio equipment. He served on the USS Savannah, USS Independence and the USS Curtis. He left the Navy in 1945 with the rank of Chief Radioman.
He graduated from Skadron Business College in California. He married Velda Jenne in 1950 and they owned the Barn Tavern in North Portland from 1952-80. They built a home in Sandpiper Village in Waldport in 1972 where they retired.
They moved to Prineville last summer to be near family.
Survivors include his wife Velda McKee of Prineville; sons, Thomas McKee and his wife Sally of Prineville and John McKee of Prineville; brother Elmont McKee of Lincoln, Neb.; grandchildren Joshua McKee, Lori McKee and Michael Feldman.

Private graveside services were held at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland.
