Gearing up for Christmas

This year's parade is sure to be the brightest Prineville has ever seen.
According to organizers of this year's Christmas Parade and Boutique, it's not too early to be thinking about the holidays.
Billed as an `electric event', businesses, organizations and individuals are being encouraged to participate in a celebration. The Quality of Life Committee of the Chamber of Commerce is planning to herald in the holidays this year in a big way. Starting off with a parade and a city-wide lighting, `Everyone's Coming For Christmas' has something for everybody.
Businesses along and adjacent to Third Street are being invited to decorate store fronts and buildings in bright white lights which will be lit sequentially on the evening of December 1. The parade will follow making its way downtown toward Pioneer Park where vendor booths display a myriad of gift items to the delight of holiday shoppers.
Event organizer Karole Stockton indicated that anyone can sign up for the parade and ribbons will be awarded this year for the best entries.
Judging will take place while the parade is enroute through town. Details and entry forms are available at the Chamber of Commerce and Parks and Recreation's office.
Vendors and crafters interested in reserving a booth space in Pioneer Park for the Christmas Boutique are also encouraged to pick up a form at the Park and Recreation office or call Stockton at 447-4342/ day or 447-3103/evening for more information.
"This will be a great way to bring Christmas to Prineville," Stockton said. "... and a good community celebration."
