ecorated Christmas tree welcomes patrons entering Crook County Library during the month of December, but it will not be hung with traditional ornaments.
The Season's Readings tree is adorned with holiday tags made especially for the project by residents of Ochoco Assisted Living Center in Prineville.
Each tag is adorned with a colorful illustration on one side along with the covers, titles, and costs of materials which the library would like to add to its collection on the reverse.
"Sometimes we receive more requests for new items than our budget can support," said staff member Margo Ashcraft. "So we created a "wish list" of titles to decorate our tree.'
Patrons are invited to select an ornament detailing a title and the library's discounted purchase price. Once it is turned in to the circulation counter with the patron's donation, the item will be ordered.
When it is received, a bookplate honoring the purchaser will be attached.
The Season's Readings project will give patrons an opportunity to give a gift to all of Crook County, helping the library and the community Ashcraft said.
