Mitch Walter Stewart
He was born March 26, 1911 in Wartburg, Tenn., to William and Etta (Maden) Stewart where he also grew up and attended school. He worked on the family farm and later in the coal mines.
He married Ola Hamby in 1938 in Wartburg and they moved to Prineville in 1950. He worked at Ochoco Lumber Company until retiring in 1976.
His interests included hunting, fishing and playing the banjo. He attended the Missionary Baptist Church in Tennessee.
Survivors include his wife, Ola Stewart of Prineville; son, Truman Stewart of Prineville; daughter, Tresi Surplus of Prineville; three grandsons, two granddaughters, five great-grandchildren and numerous cousins.
He was preceded in death by one son.
Funeral services were held earlier today with interment following at Juniper Haven Cemetery.
