Jeanette Ione Ylvisaker
The memorial will be held at 1 p.m. Nov. 30 at Zion Lutheran Church with the graveside service to follow at Redmond Memorial Cemetery.
Jeanette was born Aug. 14, 1919 in Montevideo, Minn., to Hans and Bertha (Thompson) Dvergsten. She graduated from St. Cloud Teachers College and was married to Rudolph Ylvisaker on Oct. 7, 1939, in Watson, Minn. Her ministry in life was that of a Lutheran minister's wife.
The couple served congregations and established the Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church in Sisters. The couple also served Zion Lutheran in Oregon City, First Lutheran Church in Bend, as well as churches in Hunt, N.D.; Cut Back, Mont., Southerland and Raymond, Wash. She was church organist, pianist and choir director and enjoyed visiting her families. Survivors include: sons Joel (Pauline) Ylvisaker of Yakima, Wash., Carl Ylvisaker of North Plains, Paul (Brenda) Ylvisaker of Canby, Ore.; daughters Ruth (Roald) Torgerson of Lewistown, Mont. and Marie (Ralph) Phillips of Bend, Ore.; sister Mildred Torstenson of Dawson, Minn.; 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. Rudolph Ylvisaker. Memorial contributions may be made to Zion Lutheran Church of Redmond or to Hospice of Redmond, Sisters and Grant County. Niswonger-Reynolds Funeral Home, the Redmond Chapel, is in charge of arrangements.
