Margaret E. Markuson

Margaret E. "Granny" Markuson, a former resident of Prineville passed away on Tuesday, November 23, 2004 at Rosetta House of Bend, Oregon. She was 87 years old.
   Graveside Services will be held on Friday, November 26th, at 2:00 p.m. at Juniper Haven Cemetery. Pastor Neil Mason will be officiating. Visitation was held on Friday morning, November 26 at Prineville Funeral Home.
   Margaret was born on May 30, 1917 in Gering, Nebraska, the daughter of John Corbit and Ada Bird (Royce) Beach. She came to Bend as a youth and graduated from Bend High School.
   She married Archie "Rosie" Markuson in Reno, Nevada. They lived at the Howard area of the Ochocos for several years then moved to Prineville in mid 1940s. She worked in restaurants managing the Past Time, Barr's Cafe, and the Maydrite.
   She retired from Barr's Cafe in 1974. Margaret was a cook at the Vets Club every Saturday night, cooking steaks. "Granny" loved dancing at the Eagles Club, being outdoors, hunting, fishing, gardening, and going to Reno.
   "Granny" is survived by her daughter Carol and Olan Ford of Bend, Oregon, and two grandsons, Terry Burgess of Sisters, Oregon, Tony and his wife Joey Burgess of Sparks, Nevada, and five great granddaughters Lacey Anderson of Bend, Oregon, and Tamara, Tara, Angie, and Randi Burgess of Sparks, Nevada.
   Mrs. Markuson is preceded in death by her husband, parents, and two brothers; Johnny and Larry Beach, and companion of many years Clarence Kissler. In lieu of flowers family suggest contributions to Hospice of Bend-LaPine. Arrangements are in the care of the Prineville Funeral Home.
