William 'Bill' Ziegler

liam H. "Bill" Ziegler, a Prineville resident, died Wednesday, Nov. 24, 2004, at his home. He was 70 years old. Memorial services will be held Saturday December 11, 2004 at 1 p.m. at the Prineville Funeral Home. Reverend Willard Fenderson will officiate. Private committal will be held in the Willamette National Cemetery in Portland.
Bill was born the son of Hank and Ethel (Porter) Ziegler on July 18, 1934, in Long Island, Neb. He moved to Bend in 1938 from Long Island. He was a 1952 graduate of Bend High School. Following high school he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served with the Army Rangers until 1959. In 1959 he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and served until 1963.
In 1958 in Bend he was married to Elizabeth A. Anliker. They later divorced. In Bend in 1991 he was married to Linda Coffman. He worked for Beaver Coach in Bend for many years and also worked as a route manager for Pepsi in Bend. He also worked as a gas station manager and as a security guard. At the time of his death, he was a salesman for High Desert Enterprises.
He loved to tinker and at one time he built a Sterling car from scratch. He enjoyed building small-scale models and was very accomplished at woodworking. He loved the outdoors especially hunting and fishing. He was a professional drummer and for many years he played in the Al Hirt Band. Survivors include: his son Bill Ziegler of Bend; one brother Jack Ziegler of Portland and by his companion Linda Ziegler of Prineville. He was preceded in death by his parents and by a sister Tina. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Prineville Funeral Home.
