liam Lynn Smith, 62, a resident of Bend, died Tuesday, Nov. 2, 2004 following an extended illness.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, Nov. 6, at 11 a.m. at St. Francis Catholic Church. Bill was born June 8, 1942, in Portland, Ore., to parents Wallace L. and Irene (Erie) Smith. On June 13, 1964, he married Sally Ann Taylor in Reno, Nev. He graduated from South Eugene High in 1960 and then served in the U.S. Marine Corps and then in the Marine Corps Reserves for eight years. After serving with the Marine Corps, he worked for his father's trucking company in Prineville. He then worked for Pacific Power and retired after 30 years.
At the time of his death, he was a realtor. Bill won the Junior Chamber Man of the Year award. He was involved with a number of service organizations in Prineville and he was a member of the St. Francis Catholic Church.
His hobbies included his family, working around the house, his grandkids and going to the movies.
He is survived by: his wife Sally at the family home; one daughter Minda and son-in-law Will DeBudge; grandchildren Savannah and Nicholas, all of Bend; step-mother Yvonne Smith of Prineville and step-brother Chuck Rasher of Terrebonne, Ore.
He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents. Memorial contributions can be made to the St. Francis School or to the St. Francis Chapel Fund, 2450 NE 27th St. Bend OR 97701.
