a Mae Barber, a La Pine resident passed away on Monday, November 1, 2004 at Prairie House Assisted Living Center, in La Pine, Oregon. She was 76 years old.
Graveside services will be Saturday, November 13, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. at Juniper Haven Cemetery in Prineville, Oregon. Donald Lougee will be officiating.
Dora was born in Clear Creek, Utah, on July 29, 1922. Soon after her birth, her family moved to Spring City, Utah, where she grew up and graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School in 1940.
After graduation, she move to Salt Lake City where she attended the University of Utah, and met and married Jack Wright in Salt Lake. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. After graduation she and her family moved to central Oregon, where they eventually settled in Prineville.
She retired from nursing in 1984. She loved spending time outdoors, fishing, camping and spending time with family, and watching her grandchildren play basketball.
Dora is survived by: her children Marsha Smith and her husband Jim Smith of Springfield Oregon, and her two children Jim McMartin and Jeanette Beldon both of Springfield Oregon; Jeff Wright of Springfield Oregon and his four children, Jeffrey Wright of Colorado, Brenda Detwiler of LaPine Oregon, Cindy Haglen of Colorado, and Joyce Holman of Prineville Oregon; and John Wright and his wife Valerie of Burns, Oregon; and their six children Charity Robey, Bryan Wright, Joseph Wright, Lacy Wright, all of Burns, Ore., Felicia Dunbar of Sultan, Wash., and David Wright of Prineville; 12 Great Grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Jack Wright, her parents John and Marsha Benson, two brothers, Reed and Jack Benson and two sisters, Fanny Larson and Maureen Benson.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Arrangements are in the care of the Prineville Funeral Home.
