William Cletus Smith

William Cletus Smith, 85, of Culver died Dec. 18, 2004.
   His funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 27, at the Niswonger-Reynolds Funeral Home - Redmond Chapel.
   Mr. Smith was born Aug. 28, 1919, in Ketchum, Okla., to Arthur and Callie (Baker) Smith. He married Luliah (Pool) Smith on June 6, 1946, in California.
   He was in the home construction business.
   Mr. Smith moved to California in the early 1940s and worked as a fireman in Port Chicago, Calif., for 14 years. He later moved to Culver in 1959, where he built homes and ran a dairy. He was a building inspector. Mr. Smith team roped and founded the Opal City Dance Hall and the Smith family band. He enjoyed hunting, pitching horseshoes and raising and training horses.
   Survivors include: sons Garry Smith of Madras, Ore., and Sheldon Smith of Culver, Ore.; daughter Sharon Gibson of Culver, Ore.; brothers Jack Smith of Wasilla, Alaska and Harvey Smith of Antioch, Calif.; sisters Zetta Pool of Redmond, Ore., Maxine Saska of Veneta, Okla. and Betty Embry of Palmer, Alaska; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, daughter Brenda and two brothers. Niswonger-Reynolds Funeral Home -Redmond Chapel handled the arrangements.
