Born April 5, 1918, in Bemedji, Minn., Maury lived in Bend from age 7 until after his graduation from Oregon State College with a bachelor of science degree in forestry. He worked for Shevlin Hixon Company in Bend and The McCloud River Lumber Company in McCloud, Calif., before serving in the U.S. Army during World War II.
He retired in 1960 as sales manager for Pine Products Lumber Company in Prineville.
Isted had lived in the Escondido/San Marcos, Calif., area for the past 40 years. He was a member of Grace Church in San Marcos and had been active in Heart to Heart (Palomar Medical Center). He liked to travel, fish and golf.
Mr. Isted was preceded in death by his wife, Jean, in 1997.
He is survived by: his daughter Judy Casad of Medford; daughter and son-in-law Niki and Cliff Barbour of Escondido; son and daughter-in-law Charles and Sharon Isted of Central Point, Ore.; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
A memorial service was held Saturday, Feb. 12, at Grace Church in San Marcos. Private entombment is planned at San Marcos Cemetery.
