llis M. (Stipe) Olsen, a Prineville resident, passed away on Saturday, Dec. 2, 2006 at Pioneer Memorial Hospital. She was 85 years old.
At her request no public services will be held.
Phyllis was born in Bend, Oregon on December 3, 1920 to Arthur and Nettie (Cole) Stipe. She graduated from Eugene High School in 1938, and then attended two years of Business College. She lived in Estacada, Ore., from 1959 to 1963, and then moved to Prineville. With her husband, she owned and operated "Arts Place" up Juniper Canyon. When the Prineville Reservoir was formed they also started Jasper Point Resort and operated at the lake for many years. They operated Art's Place restaurant, grocery and service station for many years, retiring in 1990. She was a member of the Prineville Eagles Lodge and Prineville Elks Lodge #1814 Auxiliary.
Phyllis married Arthur Carl Olsen in Portland, Ore., on September 13, 1941. He preceded her in death on September 22, 1996.
She enjoyed bowling, and going to Reno every year with Art.
Phyllis is survived by: her daughter Sharon and her husband Jim Madison of Redmond, Ore., and her brother, Arthur "Bud" Stipe of Bend, Ore.; her grandsons Brent Madison of Portland, Ore., and Kevin Madison of Bend, Ore., and two great -granddaughters; Amanda and Lauryn Madison of Portland, Ore.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and one sister.
