Malinda was born April 14, 1922 to John H. and Pauline (Young) Meyer in Portland, Oregon. She graduated from Girls Polytechnic High School in Portland, Ore. She was an internal grinder for bearings for H.B. Gourley Machine shop in Portland, Ore., during the war years. She then worked for Fruit and Flower Nursery in Portland, Ore for three years. On May 3, 1944 she married her high school sweetheart, Donald G. Gourley in Toledo, Ore., and then became a homemaker.
Malinda's hobbies were spending time with her family and friends; sewing; embroidery; gardening; baking; traveling; camping; fishing; and she also enjoyed being a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Portland, Ore.
Malinda is survived by: her husband, Donald G. Gourley of Prineville, Ore.; son Donald L. Gourley and wife Debbie Kowalski of Prineville, Ore.; daughter Kathleen and husband Jerry Sand of Yachats, Ore.; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Malinda is preceded in death by her parents and one brother Ralph Meyer.
