n W. Scott, a Baker City, Oregon resident passed away on Dec. 4, 2006 at his home. He was 71 years old.
Memorial services were held at Gray's West & Company Pioneer Chapel on Thursday, Dec. 7, 2006 in Baker City, Ore.
Graveside services and internment will be Friday, Dec. 8, 2006 at 2 p.m. at Juniper Haven Cemetery, in Prineville, Oregon. Charlie Hughbanks will be officiating. Military honors will be provided by the Prineville V.F.W. Post # 1412.
John was born May 28, 1935 to Tom B. and Loereda (Boyd) Scott in Kiowa, Oklahoma. His family moved to Prineville in thelate 1930's. John was raised in Prineville, Oregon and graduated from Crook County High School in 1953. He served in the U.S. Army in Korea from January 1954 to January 1956. He attended Central Oregon College in Bend and graduated in 1960.
John married Beverley on October 11, 1958 in Reno, Nevada, they later divorced.
Most of his working life was spent as a long haul truck driver for Garrett Trucking in Morgan, Utah for 10 years. He moved to Baker City in the 1980's and did a little bit of gold mining, wood cutting and worked in firefighting. In Morgan, Utah, he raised sod & cattle.
He enjoyed gun collecting and playing cards.
He loved, and was very tender with animals.
He was a member of the V.F.W. and was very active in the post in Baker City.
John is survived by the mother of his children; Beverley Scott; and children Elisabeth and her husband Phil Quintana of Ogden, Utah Susan and her husband Roger Brons, of Newberg, Ore., Pamela and her husband Jeff Weir, of Ely, Nev., Debora Perkins of Ogden, Utah and his son Eric and his wife Cheraleigh Scott of Ogden, Utah; 13 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, four nephews and two nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, "Bennie", and one sister; "Reda."
Memorial contributions may be made to the V.F.W. Post # 1412.Arrangements are in the care of the Prineville Funeral Home.
